After a record number of investments in 2019 and a huge growth year for Talis Capital’s portfolio, we are proud to announce the appointments of Michaela Rowan, Ellie Crocker, Cecilia Manduca and Emily Whitby.
On the operations team, Michaela Rowan has been hired as Finance and Investor Relations Assistant. Michaela previously worked as International Finance Analyst for WH Smith, reporting on the daily sales of the company’s international stores. Ellie Crocker joins Talis as Marketing Manager, who prior to joining worked at PR firm FieldHouse Associates, providing consultancy to venture capital firms, startups and businesses in the fast growth technology ecosystem, and freuds, where she worked on entrepreneur-focused PR and event campaigns for global brands. Emily Whitby has been hired as Receptionist and Office Assistant, joining from Lexology where she held the role of Client Services Executive, which saw her as first point of contact for over 200 clients and provided online demonstrations of analytics software.
On the investment team, Cecilia Manduca joins as Analyst from GrantTree where she helped hundreds of UK tech companies secure government funding, having previously co-founded her own student-focused travel and events business.
With a now 14-strong team, Talis has more than 50 companies in its portfolio from the UK, Europe, Asia and USA and continues to focus on Late Seed, Series A and Series B investments. The new hires bring a broad range of professional experience and skills to the company and have already added significant value to Talis, despite Ellie and Cecilia having started their roles from home as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Matus Maar, Managing Partner and Co-Founder at Talis Capital, said: “I couldn’t be more proud of Talis’s growth already in 2020. As our investment opportunities broaden and our operations expand, it’s more critical than ever that we appoint strong talent to help execute deal flow and support our existing portfolio, so we’re excited to welcome Michaela, Ellie, Cecilia and Emily to the team.”
Vasile Foca, Managing Partner and Co-Founder at Talis Capital, said: “After our record-breaking 2019, now is the time to build up our investment team and we are delighted to have brought Cecilia on board. Michaela’s support to our finance team will be critical as we continue to broaden our investment scope. As we continue growing, marketing is becoming an increasingly key role in our operations, and so it’s an important move for us that we’ve hired Ellie – and the support from Emily has already had a huge impact across the team.”
